Ever wonder what to do with those Split-Design sheets of Designer Series Paper? How to make the most of them? How to use them in card making? Well, I’ve got you!
In this video demonstration, I’ll show you how to make 10, yes 10, quick and easy cards from any Split-Design sheet of paper! I used the Nests of Winter Designer Series Paper for this demonstration along with the coordinating Winterly Tree Tops Stamp Set for sentiments.
So watch and learn, then get ready to chop up your own Split-Design papers and make a set of 10 cards today!
Cutting Dimensions for Split-Design DSP:
- FYI…Do NOT cut DSP in half. Cut as directed in video and with the following instructions.
- Cut 5 1/4″ off top of DSP.
- Cut 5 1/4″ off bottom of DSP.
- With each of the 12″ x 5″ pieces of DSP in the horizontal position, cut at 3″ increments. You should now have eight 3″ x 5″ pieces of DSP.
- With the 12″ x 1 1/2″ piece of DSP in the horizontal position, cut at 5 1/4″ increments. You could now have two 1 1/2″ x 5 1/4″ pieces of DSP. The 1 1/2″” x 1 1/2″ piece is not used on these cards but can be cut in half and adhered across the DSP strips if desired.
Card Cutting Dimensions:
- Cut 10 card bases = 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″, score at 4 1/4″, fold in half.
- Cut 10 Basic White for inside cards = 4″ x 5 1/4″
- Cut 8 card stock layers = 3 1/8″ x 5 3/8″
- Cut 2 card stock layers = 4″ x 5 1/4″ to use with embossing folder for cards 9 & 10.

I hope you found this post to be helpful in using your Split-Design sheets of Designer Series Papers in your card making. When I first saw Split-Design papers, all I could think of was using them in scrapbook layouts. I was determined to find multiple ways to use them for card making. This is just one of them. You can look forward to more Split-Design One Sheet Wonder Demonstrations in the future.
If you are drawn to the Nests of Winter Suite, I’d love for you to check out my Winterly Tree Tops Class to Go to make this set of 8 wonderful cards.
I’ve not been online much in the last couple weeks as I have been sick with bronchitis. Thanks to all of you who checked in or sent well wishes. I am finally feeling more like myself and am only having a few coughing fits each day (instead of several each day). I did a lot of reading, TV watching (Gilmore Girls LOL), and napping the last 2 weeks but am eager to get back to a normal routine. I’m going to try to put in a full week of Stampin’ Peace work while giving myself some grace for taking off completely the last 2 weeks. I hate the feeling of “I’m behind” or “I didn’t get x, y, and z done”. But then I remember I’m my own boss and, more importantly, that I can just start where I am today. So onward I go!
Remember to give yourself grace when life has you down for one reason or another. Nothing is more important than self-care…something I wish I learned at a younger age but am glad I understand now.
Wishing you peace, joy, and happy stamping!
Mary Knabe
So glad you are feeling better, I love your one sheet wonder.
