Make Gift Boxes for Cards in 3 Sizes

I love to give my handmade cards as gifts. I have a feeling you do too. In this video demonstration, you’ll learn to make gift boxes for 3 sizes of handmade cards – 3″ x 3″, 3 1/2″ x 5″, and 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ (also know as A2 size cards). Plus you’ll learn the math formula that will help you make any size small box needed. Demonstration of Gift Boxes in 3 Sizes:

Equation to make any size box:

3 dimensions are needed to make any size box – length, width, and height.

(Length + 2x Height) x (Width + 2x Height) = card stock size needed for box bottom.

Make the box top slightly larger than the bottom by adding approximately 1/16″ to the length and width of the card stock you cut for the bottom of the box.

The score lines you make on all 4 sides of each piece of card stock should be the same as the height of the box you are making.

Box Cutting & Scoring Dimensions – 3″ x 3″ Cards:

• Dimensions for box = Length = 3 1/2″, Width = 3 1/2″, Height = 1 1/4″
• Card stock for box bottom = 6″ x 6″, score at 1 1/4″ on all 4 sides
• Card stock for box top is just a tiny bit bigger (add 1/16″ to length & width), scored at 1 1/4″ on all 4 sides.

Cutting Dimensions for 3″ x 3″ cards above:

• Card base = 6″ x 3″, score at 3″ on long side, fold in half.
• Basic White inside card = 2 3/4″ x 2 3/4″
• Shaded Spruce layer = 2 1/2″ x 2 1/2″
• Basic White layer for stamping = 2 3/8″ x 2 3/8″
• Basic White card stock scrap for sentiment

Box Cutting & Scoring Dimensions – 5″ x 3 1/2″ Cards:

• Dimensions for box = Length = 5 1/2″, Width = 4″, Height = 1 1/4″
• Card stock for box bottom = 8″ x 6 1/2″, score at 1 1/4″ on all 4 sides
• Card stock for box top is just a tiny bit larger (add 1/16″ to length & width), score at 1 1/4″ on all 4 sides

Box Cutting & Scoring Dimensions – 5 1/2″ x 4″ Cards:

• Dimensions for box = Length = 6″, Width = 4 1/2″, Height = 1 1/4″
• Card stock for box bottom = 8 1/2″ x 7″, score at 1 1/4″ on all 4 sides
• Card stock for box top is just a tiny bit larger (add 1/16″ to length & width), score on all 4 sides

Cutting Dimensions for 5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″ card above:

• Card base = 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″, score at 4 1/4″ on long side, fold in half.
• DSP layer = 5 1/4″ x 4″
• Pecan Pie layer = 3″ x 3 3/4″
• Basic White layer for stamping = 2 3/4″ x 3 1/2″
