Coloring Techniques with In The Country Stamp Set

Oh, how I love to color. When I think about it, I’ve been coloring for over 55 years. I remember my mom always made sure we had plenty of crayons, coloring books, watercolor paints (remember the kind in a flat tin with a hinged lid and plastic paint brush?), and other fun craft supplies. Who would have thought that crafting all my life would lead to me being a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator with a successful business so many years later? I even worked in a craft store when I was in high school and on college breaks.

In the following video, I demonstrate a couple of fun coloring techniques, one with Watercolor Pencils, the other with Soft Pastels, and both using Blender Pens to color the images from the In The Country Stamp Set. I hope you’ll give both of these techniques a try. I have a feeling they’ll make you feel a bit like a real artist, just like they do for me. I should mention here, that the In The Country Stamp Set can be yours free with a $50 order now through February 28th, 2023.

Here’s what I did:

Cards made with 2 different coloring techniques:

I used Watercolor Pencils and Blender Pens to color the images in the cards above.

I used Soft Pastels and Blender Pens to color the images in the cards above.

Cutting Dimensions for both sets of cards above:

  • Card base = 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″, score at 4 1/4″ on long side, fold in half.
  • Basic White inside card = 5 1/4″ x 4″
  • Embossed card stock layer on front = 5 1/4″ x 4″
  • Card stock layer matching card base = 2 3/4″ x 4″
  • Basic White for stamping & coloring = 2 1/2″ x 3 3/4″

Of course, you can still make very lovely cards with the In The Country Stamp Set even if you don’t want to color. Take a look at my cards below. In the first set of cards, I stamped with Black Momento Ink. In the second set of cards, I stamped with Gray Granite Ink.
