I hope this post helps you look at your shape dies in a whole new way, especially the large ones!
Create extra special handmade cards by die cutting shaped cards bases. In this video, you’ll see me make a card with a scalloped circle card base which I die cut using the Scalloped Blooms Bundle. My card also features the Artisan Sketched Designer Series Paper with all black and white prints. So if you like cards with black and white and a pop of color, you’re going to love this card making demonstration even more!
So many large shape dies can be used for making shaped card bases! For example, Stampin’ Up!’s Beautifully Celebrated Dies and Party Banners Dies. AND, the Filled With Sweetness Die Collection allows you to die cut a card base in the shape of a jelly jar or canning jar! How fun is that?
Enjoy this card making video, then give creating with Shaped Card Bases a try!

The Scalloped Blooms Card made in the video above uses the 2nd largest scalloped circle die which is approximately 4 1/4″ in diameter so it does fit in a standard envelope for A2 Cards.
Dimensions for Scalloped Bloom Cards:
- Card base = 4 1/4″ x 8 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″ on long side, fold in half.
- Die cut with die extending just beyond fold as shown in video.
- DSP for die cutting = 4 1/4″ x 4 1/4″
- Scraps for flowers, leaves, sentiment

The Filled With Sweetness Bundle includes a die designed to cut out a card base in the shape of a jelly jar or canning jar! I love it! And, it makes me what to make jam!!! I’ve never done it but may give it a try late spring or early summer this year!

So are you ready to do a little something different in your card making? What dies will you use to create cards with Shaped Card Bases? I hope you’ll share photos of the Shaped Cards you make on Facebook in my Stampin’ Peace VIP Group.
