In this card making demonstration I’m combining one of my favorite new products – the Party Alphabet Dies – with a fun technique every paper crafter should know – the Eclipse Technique.
Using the Eclipse Technique with Alphabet Dies is an easy and fun way to add interest, dimension, and an element of surprise to your cards. It will leave those receiving your cards saying “WOW! That’s so cool!” And what’s better than receiving a compliment like that on a handmade card you put your creativity and heart into?
Whether you use the Eclipse Technique with the Party Alphabet Dies and Celebratory Sips Designer Series Paper like I did or any of the alphabet dies and paper you already own, your cards will surely be amazing. Just follow the directions and tips I provide in this video.
Dimensions for Eclipse Technique Slimline Card:
- Card base = 8 1/2″ x 7″, score at 3 1/2″ on short side, fold in half
- Basic White inside = 8 1/4″ x 3 1/4″
- Card stock layer front = 8 1/4″ x 3 1/4″
- DSP for die cutting = 8″ x 3″
- Sentiment = 5/8″ strip
Here’s a card I made for little Riley’s birthday using the Party Alphabet Dies and the Eclipse Technique as shown in the video above. While the card base is the same size as the slimline card above, I did make some adjustments in the dimensions of the DSP and card stock layers. DSP for die cutting is 7 3/4″ x 2 3/4″ which is a nice fit for ‘RILEY’. The card stock layers measure 8″ x 3″ and 8 1/8″ x 3 1/8″ for bit of a different look.
