Hearts to Shamrocks & 4-Leaf Clovers

Don't let your heart punches collect dust on the shelf just because Valentine's Day has passed. There are so many more uses for them…anniversaries, weddings, bridal showers, simple I love you's. AND you'll need them to make St. Patrick's Day cards in March. You can also put your heart punches to good use making Good Luck cards for students, new grads, those starting a new job or making a big move or life change.

Punch a set of hearts out and arrange them in groups of three and four to form shamrocks and four-leaf clovers. I made the two cards below with hearts punched from this beautiful green plaid from Country Club Designer Series Paper. Such a classic look and perfect for my Saint Patrick's Day and wishing friends and family good luck in their endeavors. My sentiments are from the Itty Bitty Greetings Stamp Set with 32 sentiments for just $36. It's one of my "go-to" sets. I added a bow made from Black Glittered Organdy Ribbon as a finishing touch to each of my cards. I think these bows work well here. 

Card Dimensions are 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" Garden Green card stock, scored at 4 1/4" on long side, and folded in half. Basic Black card stock layer is 5 1/4" x 4", and Whisper White card stock layer is 5" x 3 3/4".  I also put a Whisper White card stock layer on the inside of the card which measures 5 1/4" x 4".

I love the classic green plaid of the Country Club Designer Series Paper I chose for my shamrock and four-leaf clover. That bit of bling with the bows made from Black Glittered Organdy Ribbon is such a nice touch.

The next 3 photos show you how I cut the stem of my shamrock and 4-leaf clover also using the Heart Punch. Punch a heart, then without removing the rest of the DSP, slide the punch slightly to your right or left and punch again. Now you have a stem and with a few more hearts punched you are ready to put together your shamrocks and clovers.
