The Golden Honey Specialty Designer Series Paper has been a VERY popular choice for a Sale-A-Bration freebie with a $50 purchase. (BTW, it is back in stock.) I have 2 ways you can customize this paper with color making it very versatile. Choose a paper, choose a color, and choose a method of coloring, and you are set to customize your DSP with your favorite color.
Here are two examples of customizing this already beautiful Designer Series Paper with the bright and cheery Melon Mambo color. I colored the stripes using a Sponge Dauber and Melon Mambo Ink Pad. The little flowers were colored with a Blender Pen and Melon Mambo Ink Pad.
In the following three cards I used Golden Honey Specialty DSP that I customized with Highland Heather Color. I love the black and purple together. I colored the stripes with a Sponge Dauber and Highland Heather Ink Pad. Start out light with your color, and add more ink until you get your desired tone of Highland Heather or other color of your choice. I colored the flowers with a Blender Pen and Highland Heather Ink Pad. You could also use a Highland Heather Stampin' Write Marker.
Be sure to watch this Facebook Live Replay for a demonstration of coloring using Blender Pens and Sponge Daubers with our Classic Stampin' Pads.
I LOVE Stampin' Up! Blender Pens! What's so great about them, you ask? Let me tell you. Blender Pens the ease of markers with the ability to blend tones and colors. These dual-tipped pens are filled with a specialized solution to blend colors easily. They are acid free as well so safe to use in your scrapbooks and memory books. Blender Pens (#102845) come in a pack of 3 and are quite affordable at $12.00/pack. AND, if you don't have Stampin' Write Markers in a particular color, you can use Blender Pens and Ink Pads instead – a very cost effect option until you are ready to purchase a set of Stampin' Write Markers. Blender Pens can be cleaned by stroking the tips across scrap paper so you don't need a different pen for each color.
And finally, when coloring with Stampin' Up! Watercolor Pencils, I can soften the lines of the pencil strokes by going over them lightly with a clean Blender Pen. See the difference in the examples below from the Lots of Happy Card Kit.
