The Wilderness Awaits stamp set caught my eye because of the pointer dog. It reminded me of my brother Tom who likes to hunt and had these dogs in the past. I remember one was named Lucy. I especially love the sentiment stamped on the inside of the card: "Admired, respected, loved…that's you". I'll be sending this to him as well as to a favorite uncle for Day 58 of my Card a Day Challenge. Thank you, Shelly Godby of Stamping Smiles, for the inspiration for this card.
I used Stampin' Up! Aqua Painters to watercolor the dog. New to using Aqua Painters? No worries. It easy (and fun). Here's a tip to get you started: Squeeze your closed ink pad firmly with two hands a few times before opening. When you open your ink pad, you will find a "puddle" of ink on the inside of the lid. Dip the tip of your aqua painter in this puddle to pick up the color. Lighten the shade by squeezing out a drop of water and mix with the ink on the lid. Remember to wipe your aqua painter several times on white scrap paper or a paper towel until it is clear before using it in the next color. Your family and friends will be impressed with your "watercoloring".
