True Love - Black & White with Pops of Color

True Love Designer Series Paper from the new Love You Always Suite in our 2021 Jan-Jun Mini Catalog makes it easy to create fun black & white cards with pops of color. While the Love You Always Suite does include images & sentiments for Valentine cards, it is also very versatile. This suite makes beautiful cards for anniversaries, bridal showers, engagements, and weddings and simply to tell people they are loved. AND, while the black & white True Love Designer Series Paper can make beautiful feminine cards with its many floral images, it's also great for making masculine using the geometric patterns sides of the paper.

So take a look now at my December 30th Stampin' Peace with Mary Knabe Facebook Live card making demonstration. I show you 2 ways to design cards using 4" x 6" pieces of your new favorite Designer Series Papers. You'll also get lots of ideas to add various pops of color to the black & white True Love Designer Series Paper for one-of-a-kind cards to bring love and smiles to those receiving your lovely cards.

The first 3 cards here show you how I used pieces of 4" x 6" DSP, cut down to 4" x 5 1/4" by cutting off 3/4" on one short side.  But don't get rid of those 3/4" strips as you can use them on your cards as shown in my video demonstration above and photos below.

Forever & Always Bundle and True Love Designer Series Paper by Stampin' Up!

I began adding pops of color to the following card by coloring with Stampin' Blends in Rococo Rose and Old Olive. Notice how I used the 3/4" strip of DSP on the inside of the card.
Forever & Always Bundle and True Love Designer Series Paper by Stampin' Up!

Mixing and matching the fabulous sentiments and dies of the Forever & Always Bundle makes creating one-of-a-kind cards for special occasions so easy. How about that new Heart Charm embellishment as an accent on this card? I love it.

Utilize your strips of Designer Series Paper to add interest to the inside of your cards!

Ribbon and card stock in Just jade adds a simple touch of color to this pretty black & white card. Notice how I used the 3/4" strip of Designer Series Paper I cut off of the original 4" x 6" piece. Flip the DSP strip over for added detail.

Using Magenta Madness adds a BIG POP of color on the following black & white True Love card.

Magenta Madness sure makes a statement against the black & white.

A bow tied with Black Glittered Organdy Ribbon is a fun accent for this card.

In the following 3 cards, I started with 4" x 6" pieces of True Love Designer Series Paper with the geometric side up. Instead of cutting off a 3/4" strip, I actually tore the paper approximately 1 1/2" from one short side. TIP:  When I tear DSP or card stock, I prefer to hold it so that I tear towards me from top to bottom. In other words, I turned my DSP in a horizontal position, held it along the top with my left hand, placed my right thumb and index finger at top approximately 1 1/2" from the right side and pulled the paper toward my body. I feel like I have control of the paper as I'm tearing when I do it this way.

I added pops of color to this card with Mango Melody and Granny Apple Green Stampin' Blends. I love the exposed torn edge of this card too.Forever & Always Bundle and True Love Designer Series Paper by Stampin' Up!

I added several pops of color with Sponge Daubers and ink pads.

Isn't this a great sentiment for a card for a special friend??? I love it!!!

Flowers for Every Season for Curvy Celebrations

It's always fun to mix and match Stampin' Up! products. I especially like to match the "old" with the "new" or described better as matching Annual Catalog products with new catalog products. In today's cards, I mix the Flowers for Every Season 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper and 2020-2022 In Color products from the current Stampin' Up! Annual Catalog with the Quite Curvy Bundle from the January - June 2021 Mini Catalog.

I have prepared a Free Project Sheet for you to make this card. I hope you will download it now and enjoy it for making Quite Curvy cards today and in the future. Download Project Sheet - Quite Curvy Cards with Flowers for Every Season DSP

For my card below, I simply used the reverse side of the Designer Series Paper I used for the card above. A different pattern on each side of our Designer Series Papers doubles our paper choices and makes creating with Stampin' Up! stamps, ink, and paper even more fun.

Notice the detail on this particular Curvy Die. I love the assortment of details on the Curvy Dies. Flip the Curvy Die around to put the detail on your bottom piece of Designer Series Paper instead of the top piece for a little bit of a change.

More Split Panel Cards

My Saturday, December 26th blog post featured a video demonstration of making a Split Panel Card using the Dandy Garden Suite featured in our new January - June 2021 Mini Catalog launching January 5th. If you missed it, please click on the following link to see the demonstration and photos of the Split Panel Cards:  https://bit.ly/37OFE6Y.

Today's blog post features a twist on these Split Panel Cards. I used the same Stampin' Up! Dandy Garden Suite products and the same cutting and scoring dimensions to make a different version of my previous Split Panel Cards. Today's Split Panel Cards are in the landscape or horizontal position rather than the portrait or vertical position.

Calypso Coral is just one of many gorgeous Stampin' Up! colors in the Dandy Garden Designer Series Paper Collection. Dandelions and dragonflies are a couple of the coordinating images seen throughout the Dandy Garden product collection. Dragonflies can be stamped then punched with the coordinating stamp set and punch or use the Dragonflies Punch to punch dragonflies from the Dandy Garden Designer Series Paper. Either way the dragonflies are a wonderful addition to your cards and paper crafting projects, especially when adhered with Stampin' Dimensionals.

Dandy Garden Suite by Stampin' Up!

Mossy Meadow Braided Linen Trim is easy to tie bows with and just the right weight for using as a card embellishment.

Dandy Garden Suite by Stampin' Up!

My sentiment was stamped so that it is covered when the card is closed.

Dandy Garden Suite by Stampin' Up!

Misty Moonlight and bumblebees are also coordinating components of the Dandy Garden Suite. On this card, I placed the extra horizontal piece toward the top of my card rather than near the bottom as in the previous card. A simple change that makes a dramatic impact.

Dandy Garden Suite by Stampin' Up!

If you're curious as to how I managed 2 colors of ink on 1 stamped image, be sure to check out my video demonstration on my December 26th blog post. I show you 2 ways to add 2 or more colors to a single stamp for a multicolored stamped image. Click here to see the video demonstration for this stamping technique and the Split Panel Card.

Dandy Garden Suite by Stampin' Up!

Cutting Dimensions:

  • Start with 4 1/4" x 11". Cut off 1 3/4" from one end. This is the extra piece that you place vertically and adhere to top flap of card.
  • Card base is the 4 1/4" x 9 1/4" piece you now have. Score at 1 7/8" from each end. Fold on both score lines to form top and bottom flaps for card front.
  • Designer Series Paper - Cut 2 pieces 1 5/8" x 4" and 1 piece of a different but coordinating DSP 1 1/2" x 4".
  • Whisper White for inside of card = 4 1/4" x 5 1/2".

***Please note that the products in the Dandy Garden Suite can be found on pages 24-27 of our new January - June 2021 Mini Catalog and will be available to order beginning January 5th.

Quite Curvy Hello Note Card

It's nice to send a pretty card simply to say hello to a friend or loved one who you haven't see in a long time or who you know needs a little pick me up or to know they are thought of. This card is perfect for that person. The card is simple and quick to make. The gold hoop adds a fun element to this wreath card. The sentiment and flowers are from the Quiet Curvy Bundle. And with such bright colors as Magenta Madness, Granny Apple Green, and Pool Party, whose days wouldn't be made just a bit brighter with this card?

No extra layers of card stock or Designer Series Paper for this simply beautiful card.

Quite Curvy Stamp Set & Curvy Dies by Stampin' Up!I prefer to use Whisper White THICK card stock for my white card bases as it is much sturdier and stands up better than our original Whisper White card stock that is intended for layering. The same holds true for Very Vanilla card bases.

Quite Curvy Stamp Set & Curvy Dies by Stampin' Up!
What a nice impact this Gold Hoop Embellishment adds. It makes this simple card a bit fancy!

TIPS for making this card:

  • For adhering the Gold Hoop Embellishments, use a few Mini Glue Dots rolled up or even a few tiny pieces of Tear & Tape rolled. You don't need adhesive all the way around the Gold Hoop. Just 3-4 spots with good adhesive will hold your Gold Hoop in place nicely.
  • Stamp the sentiment in Black Momento Ink or in color of your choice.
  • I stamped 2 floral sprigs in Black Momento Ink and colored with Stampin' Blends in Magenta Madness, Granny Apple Green, and Pool Party.
  • Die cut both floral sprigs. Then cut one of them into 2 pieces (1 very small piece and 1 longer piece) and tuck and adhere these underneath the Gold Hoop. The other floral sprig I placed over the top of the hoop using Stampin' Dimensionals to adhere it to the card base.
  • Use a Mini Glue Dot behind the knot of the bow to adhere it to the bottom of the floral wreath.

Cutting Dimensions:

  • Card base is 5 1/2" x 8 1/2", score at 4 1/4" on long side, fold in half.
  • DSP is 5 1/2" x 3". (You can make 2 cards with this layout from 1 piece of the 6" x 6" DSP.)
  • Very Vanilla for stamping is 2 1/2" x 4 1/4".
  • Misty Moonlight layer is 2 5/8" x 4 3/8".

Boho Indigo Note Cards

I have to admit, creating with the Boho Indigo Product Medley makes me happy. The simple color scheme of Misty Moonlight, Very Vanilla, and Metallic Gold Accents, the variety of designs in the Designer Series Paper, the elegant gold ribbon and texture of the blue ribbon, the felt flowers with bead center, the numerous die cuts, and, last but not least, the stamp set and coordinating dies. I love it all! The possibilities are endless for making wonderful cards for any occasion or note cards like the two I made below.

Here are two of several cards I've created with the Boho Indigo Product Medley. Be sure to download the Free PDF Project Sheets I made for you so you can make these cards too.

You're one in a million!

New products are so much fun to play with. The Quite Curvy Bundle, Curvy Christmas Stamp Set, and festive Curvy Celebrations DSP do not disappoint. In fact, I'm going to need a lot more time to create with these fabulous and versatile products. My Facebook Live video replay below gives you some tips for using the Curvy Dies and will show you how to make a beautiful card perfect for telling someone how much they mean to you.

The cards in today's blog post give you a sneak peek at the Quite Curvy Bundle which will be in our 2021 January - June Mini Catalog. But you don't have to wait that long to order it. The Quite Curvy Bundle is available as a pre-order to EVERYONE beginning November 3rd.  And if you love Quite Curvy Bundle, consider adding the Curvy Christmas Stamp Set & Classic Christmas 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper to your upcoming order. These coordinating Christmas products will NOT be in the 2021 Jan - June Mini Catalog like the Quite Curvy Bundle. They are exclusive to the Curvy Celebrations Promotion November 3rd - January 4th only.
