People love journals of all kinds – gratitude journals, mindset journals, prayer journals, travel journals, and so many more! What’s you favorite type of journal to use? Have family and friends using journals? How about gifting some handmade journals to them? Or make a few for yourself. In this demonstration, I’m going to show you one of my own handmade journals and just how quick and easy it is to do using a handful of supplies you’ve already got in your craft room!
The journal I make in this video features products from the Gathering Together Designer Series Paper, Gathering Moments Stamp Set & Dies, and Grateful Blessing Stamp Set from Stampin’ Up! and the color combination of Basic Beige, Cajun Craze, Crushed Curry, Early Espresso, Old Olive, and Basic White.
Watch this demonstration, then grab your supplies and start creating. Trust the process. Don’t over think it. Have fun.
Getting Started making Handmade Journals:
- Choose theme of your journal.
- Choose 5 sheets of 11″ x 8 1/2″ card stock, score each at 5 1/2″ on long side, fold in half.
- With scored card stock open, stack all pieces of card stock and punch holes along score line to “bind” journal as shown in video.
- Select Designer Series Papers, embellishments, stamps, etc. – anything you think you might want to use.
Use these layouts and dimensions as guidelines for each spread but feel free to change them as desired for your own handmade journals:

DSP = 5″ x 8″, Basic Beige for sentiment = 1 3/4″ x 2 3/4″, Early Espresso layer = 2″ x 3″

Cut 2 Squares = 4″ x 4″, Punched circle for sentiment = 2 3/8″

DSP = 4″ x 6″

Basic Beige = 3 1/2″ x 6″, DSP strip = 4″ x 1″, DSP = 4″ x 6″

DSP = 1″x 8 1/2″

DSP for pocket – 5 1/4″ x 3 1/2″, DSP Strip = 5 1/4″ x 1/2″, Basic Beige card stock = 4 1/4″ x 7″

DSP = 1″x 8 1/2″

DSP = 4″ x 6″, Basic Beige = 3 1/2″ x 6″, DSP strip = 4″ x 1″

DSP = 4″ x 6″

Cut 2 Squares = 4″ x 4″
No matter whether your handmade journals are for yourself or someone else, I hope you feel inspired to make them what you want them to be with your own personal touch using your own papers, color combinations, embellishments, etc. for any theme or purpose. And when you give handmade journals as a gift, remember to do so with the recipient in mind – How might they use it? What are their favorite colors? And remember the love you create your journals with will bring joy to you and to those who receive your wonderful handmade journals. Happy crafting!
Wishing you peace, joy, and happy stamping today and always.
